Enchanted Forest
The Pygmy Seahorse might be the rarest animal I have ever photographed, and also one of the most challenging. This species, the Hippocampus Bargibanti, lives almost exclusively on pink Gorgonian fan corals, and a fully grown individual is roughly the size of a human fingernail.
To add to the challenge, we found a promising Gorgonian coral at a depth of 28m, which only allowed a matter of minutes to correctly identify the coral, find a seahorse, get the shot, and then begin ascending back up to a safer depth for this particular gas mix and dive profile.
