The relationship between this clownfish and the Haddon’s Sea Anemone is a symbiotic, long-term biological interaction, that has mutual benefits for both organisms.

The clownfish is immune to the anemone’s stinging cells, which offer the fish protection from would-be predators. In return the anemone is cleaned of parasites, as well as being defended by the clownfish against other competitive anemones and predatory animals such as butterflyfish.
