The Common Lionfish is a beautiful and voracious reef predator, covered in venomous spines. While natural predators in Indo-Pacific waters keep Lionfish populations in check, they have become one of the most invasive fish species globally, capable of decimating non-native reef habitats that are not adapted to their presence.

The invasion is so significant, that divers in the Caribbean have even experimented with methods to encourage Caribbean Reef Sharks to hunt Lionfish, and restore ecological balance.
